Help to shape Trafalgar’s future
1 min read

Local feedback is required to help shape the future of Trafalgar during drop-in sessions next week.
Baw Baw Shire is currently putting together a roadmap to guide future land use and growth of Trafalgar.
Still in its early stages, locals can provide feedback online or via the drop-in sessions at Trafalgar Community Centre on Thursday, May 9. Two sessions will be offered - 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm.
Mayor Annemarie McCabe strongly encouraged anyone who lives, works or has strong affiliation with Trafalgar to provide much-valued feedback to enable council to appropriately plan for the future.
"We know there are plenty of people out there who know the area back to front, and who would have some great ideas about how we can preserve Trafalgar's history and uniqueness, while also planning for future growth - and we want to hear from you," Cr McCabe.
The plan aims to increase the overall liveability of Trafalgar while providing a clear framework to ensure future land use, services and infrastructure will accommodate moderate residential population growth and demographic changes.
It will address: traffic and movement; residential, commercial and industrial land supply; risk management of flooding, bushfire and erosion; appropriate land use separation; improving connectivity and access; sustainability; liveability; and, protection of community heritage and environmental integrity.
Following this community consultation phase, council officers and Tract Consulting will consolidate feedback and use it to develop a draft plan. This will then be presented back to the community for another round of feedback.
Cr McCabe added this process was demonstrative of council's commitment to hearing the community's voice and keeping it at the heart of decisions affecting towns.
